Our ambition is to be a world class Kiwi company.

Since Infratil and the New Zealand Superannuation Fund purchased Shell's operations in 2010, Z has emerged as a local business success story.

We're proud to be a company that contributes to the New Zealand economy and community. We respond to what our customers want, like putting guaranteed service back into our service stations, and we're famous for supporting our local neighbourhoods, while also rewarding our investors for their belief in us.

In 2013 we listed on both the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZSX) and the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). We also have three retail bonds on offer on the New Zealand Debt Exchange (NZDX). In October 2015 our cornerstone shareholders reduced their holdings from 40% to 10% so Z is now fully floated.

With the acquisition of Caltex New Zealand on 1 June 2016, Z now supplies just under half of the New Zealand fuel market across the Z and Caltex networks.

Our commitment to investors

At Z, we’re committed to earning the trust and respect of the market.

Our investors have shown a lot of trust and faith in our business by backing our company, so it’s only right that we do everything we can to ensure that this trust is earned and strengthened.

How do we do this? First and foremost, we behave with integrity and in a manner true to our values, and second, we ensure the highest standard of communications with investors, potential investors and with the market more generally.

We comply at all times with market, regulatory and governance requirements and continue to be a socially responsible company with a conscience. We want our investors to be proud of the fact that they're investors in Z. Ultimately, investors in Z are the owners of our company and we have the highest level of accountability to them.

Like most Kiwis, we’re a pretty straight up bunch here at Z. Being straight up and sharing everything are two of our core values that underpin what we do and how we go about it. What this means for our investors is that we're accessible, and we keep you informed. Our communications with investors and the market are clear, transparent, consistent and in a manner that recognises the company's commercial accountabilities.

We also recognise that effective communication with investors and the market must be two-way. In our view, best practice investor communication includes equal amounts of speaking and listening. In fact, much of our success as a company so far is owed to our willingness to listen to what our customers tell us and adapt our business accordingly. So, just as we did with our customers over the first few years of our operation and continue to do, we seek feedback and listen to what our investors have to say about Z, how we do business, and how we communicate.

Corporate social responsibility

To us, sustainability means acting in a way that benefits the future of the neighbourhoods we operate in and the planet we live on, while at the same time sustaining the long term future of our company. We think it's good for business, good value and good sense.

Here are Z, we:

  • are committed to doing the right thing by New Zealand
  • are a transport energy company, not an oil company – so we're not wedded to fossil fuels
  • reckon we're in a unique position to move from being a part of the problem to being at the heart of the solution.

As a Kiwi company that serves neighbourhoods across New Zealand, we’re very conscious of the expectation people have on us when it comes to being a good neighbour. Our customers have told us they want us to contribute to the things that matter locally, in our neighbourhoods. So we back our neighbourhoods by investing in them.

How we invest in our neighbourhoods

Good in the Hood is how we give back to local neighbourhoods to support the things that really matter to them. It’s a unique approach and one that encourages people to have a say in what Z supports in their local neighbourhoods.
